See below for selected opportunities in the coming year \u2026.<\/p>\n<h2>Undergraduate Students<\/h2>\n<p>I am seeking an undergraduate student to work on a collaborative project with researchers in Cuenca, Ecuador. The ideal candidate will be a junior or senior in AY26-27 majoring in Geosciences, Environmental Science, or Environmental Engineering with some course work in water chemistry, pollutant movement through air\/land\/water, or wastewater treatment <em><strong>and<\/strong> <\/em>in geospatial technologies (GIS, remote sensing). Registration for course work in these areas in Fall &#8217;26 will qualify applicants for the position.<\/p>\n<p>This opportunity extends an initial collaboration with Ecuadorian researchers described in <a href=\"https:\/\/revistas.ups.edu.ec\/index.php\/granja\/article\/view\/29.2019.05\">this paper<\/a> and will support the work of a visiting scholar (example research <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S2214714423000144\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S0263876219303648\">here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The project will involve academic credit in Fall &#8217;26 with the potential for research travel to Ecuador in Summer &#8217;27. Students with some Spanish language skills and those interested in developing a senior honors thesis are especially encouraged to apply. <strong>Applications may be submitted to <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.microsoft.com\/Pages\/ResponsePage.aspx?id=WHcXHGtN3EOq6zucQlYpZ6tvTvgWx45AjIi-__GJQ-BUOUdHRTc1UDhKVUUzNE45OTRXTFJCQ1EzWi4u\">this form<\/a> until August 15, 2026 <\/strong>or until the position is filled.<\/p>\n<h2>Graduate Students<\/h2>\n<p>I recruit graduate students through the Geology program in the College of Arts &amp; Sciences (MS only) and through the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources (MS and PhD). I accept graduate students only when I am able to support them on research grants. Please check back here periodically for funded opportunities for graduate study.<\/p>\n<h2>Post-doctoral Scholars<\/h2>\n<p>Post-doctoral scholars join us for 1-3 year periods on funded projects or through grants they hold. As a faculty fellow with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvm.edu\/gund\">Gund Institute for Environment<\/a> at UVM, I invite interested postdoctoral fellows to apply <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uvm.edu\/gund\/postdoctoral-fellowships\">through their competitve program<\/a>.\u00a0 Please check back here periodically for other funded opportunities through my research group.
