November Phenology: Centennial Woods

In a spiral…

The never-ending journey of finding your inner-self is connected through nearly everything. The spiraling of tree trunks, patterns found in leaves, and in the crunchy pinecones. We are always reminded of the evolving nature of that which is eternal, a place where the soul experiences a journey. This journey is what we make of it, yet we cloud our vision with the limiting conditions that create barriers between inner-knowing and reality. The spiral can be found everywhere, yet Centennial Woods has gifted me with its presence, where I observed this ever-evolving nature and enduring symbol with my own eye…

Bird’s-eye view of Centennial Woods :

As I centered myself in Centennial Woods I was open to all senses: the glistening sound of the stream flowing, voices from earth’s roots as they transition from a state of growing to a state of decaying. The creaking of trees reveal a shift in energy that acknowledges rest. I noticed that November is about slowing down, unwinding, and finding solace.

As we turn back the clocks, the energy in light begins to shift. We start to fill our days with gratitude for the time we have with light. At 3:24 PM, a golden light glimmered through the trees as if it were golden hour. I believe light not only reflects time, but it also reflects a shift in energy.

A month later, this same spot revealed a darker presence. The understory is decaying, while the overstory is shedding its last colors. Surrounding vegetation in this area included various shrubs, with larger tree species including birches & basswoods.

Sometimes the work is in the sitting still… Anything that is born from the slow drip, the nourishing stillness, the internal cave moments and chapters of being on path, yet your path is simply you embodied in your own essence. The necessary precious moments of recharging yourself is that vibration.
