March Mysteries

I breathe bitter air to calm my mind,

challenging signs of spring, I come to find…

Hours ago a snowfall gathered low.

Painting the trees, embellishing the leaves.

the birds sing louder, yet the light shines the same.

gleaming rays across snowbanks.

this is a march mystery, and i’m simply a tourist.

trying to figure it out, become aware of this.

I’ll still welcome spring, to see what it will bring.

Lots of lust and light,

as i dance,

dance,

dance,

even if this is just spring at a glance

Although spring equinox is underway, signs of winter still remain. A blanket of snow coats the coniferous trees and ferns, while the melodies of Cardinals and American Crows sing in the distance. Paying homage to the rebirth of nature heals the soul. This is the darkness that must provide the light. Nature is wise in knowing that growth is change. Growth is under roots, tunneling into the trees, revealing something greater and vibrant. There is never a time where the earth is not changing, growing. “Nature doesn’t judge itself for being ugly to be beautiful.” Nature doesn’t live with urgency, it lives with contentment. It is futile to experience a phenological mystery. This allows for the flow of life to find purpose again.

Becoming the observer has greeted me with many gifts. I move through the world with an awareness and sacred oath to the duality of nature. We must reconcile our souls with the yin-yang and dance with the Tao. As I observed my phenology spot, many changes were present. Two days earlier my boots were coated in mud, yet today I am hearing the crunch of snow beneath my feet. I hear some Blue Jays and Chickadees. They feel like friends to me. Viewing the world with a Taoist lens has granted me with everlasting wholeness. I’m lucky to hold the transformations of the earth so closely to my heart. Cheers to March mysteries, you are an extension of me!
