{"id":256,"date":"2014-12-06T16:39:33","date_gmt":"2014-12-06T20:39:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/anthro\/?p=256"},"modified":"2014-12-06T16:40:01","modified_gmt":"2014-12-06T20:40:01","slug":"professors-vanvalkenburgh-and-eastman-awarded-humanities-center-multidisciplinary-collegial-network-grant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/anthro\/2014\/12\/06\/professors-vanvalkenburgh-and-eastman-awarded-humanities-center-multidisciplinary-collegial-network-grant\/","title":{"rendered":"Professors VanValkenburgh and Eastman Awarded Humanities Center Multidisciplinary Collegial Network Grant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Anthropology faculty <strong>Parker VanValkenburgh<\/strong> and <strong>Benjamin Eastman<\/strong> received one of the first three grants from UVM&#8217;s Multidisciplinary Collegial Network program, to support a series of critical discussions and presentations on the &#8220;ontological turn&#8221; in the humanities and interpretive social sciences &#8212; a wave of new research examining how categories of being are constructed, as well as their political implications.<br \/>\n&#8212;&#8211;<br \/>\nIn the spring, UVM anthropology will be hosting a series of faculty-led research seminars on the subject of the &#8220;ontological turn&#8221; in anthropology. Faculty presenters include<strong> John Crock<\/strong> (January 21st), <strong>Jennifer Dickinson<\/strong> (February 25th), and <strong>Luis Vivanco<\/strong> (April 15th) of the department of anthropology, as well as <strong>Todne Chipumuro (Religion)<\/strong> (February 11th) and <strong>Ingrid Nelson (Geography)<\/strong> (March 18th). All presentations will take place from 12:15pm to 1:30pm in Williams Hall. Further details, including talk titles and an additional visiting speaker event, will be posted here shortly.
