I&#8217;ve been a bit remiss with that, as we had a meeting 3 weeks ago and will be meeting again at 4 p.m. today.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/aivakhiv\/2015\/03\/12\/oad-update\/ontology-across-the-disciplines-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-8122\">Here<\/a>&nbsp;is a one-page handout&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/aivakhiv\/2015\/03\/12\/oad-update\/ontology-across-the-disciplines-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-8122\">(click for PDF)<\/a>&nbsp;I&#8217;ve sent around to participants. It includes a very quick-and-dirty&nbsp;(and extremely cursory) &#8220;orienting map&#8221; &#8212; really just intended to catalyze other participants to map for themselves how ontological questions have come to the fore in their own disciplines &#8212; as well as&nbsp;some very&nbsp;brief summary notes of the discussion at the last meeting, which focused on Cultural Anthropology&#8217;s &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/culanth.org\/fieldsights\/461-the-politics-of-ontology\">Politics of Ontology&#8221; series<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s meeting will focus on two readings by anthropologist&nbsp;Todd Ram\u00f3n Ochoa:&nbsp;&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.culanth.org\/articles\/128-versions-of-the-dead-kalunga-cuban-kongo\">Versions of the Dead: Kalunga, Cuban-Kongo Materiality, and Ethnography<\/a>&#8221; and&nbsp;&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.culanth.org\/articles\/42-prendas-ngangas-enquisos-turbulence-and-the\">Prendas-Ngangas-Enquisos: Turbulence and the Influence of the Dead in Cuban Kongo Material Culture<\/a>&#8220;. &nbsp;Both come from a book project that was published as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/0520256840\/\"><em>Society of the Dead: Quita Manaquita and Palo Praise in Cuba<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Comments welcome.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>That stands for &#8220;Ontology Across the Disciplines,&#8221; which is the UVM faculty (and grad student) reading group that&nbsp;I said I&#8217;d keep readers updated on.
