{"id":7540,"date":"2014-05-19T06:51:41","date_gmt":"2014-05-19T11:51:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/aivakhiv\/?p=7540"},"modified":"2014-06-13T11:06:07","modified_gmt":"2014-06-13T16:06:07","slug":"prize-announcement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/aivakhiv\/2014\/05\/19\/prize-announcement\/","title":{"rendered":"Prize announcement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Announcing a competition:<\/p>\n<p><em>Which\u00a0scholars should be on the list of &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/aivakhiv\/2014\/05\/18\/top-humanists-of-the-last-century\/\">Top humanists of the last century<\/a>&#8221; but are not?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The person who names the greatest number of such names by the end of the day (12 midnight) EST next Sunday\u00a0&#8212; using the methodology specified <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/aivakhiv\/2014\/05\/18\/top-humanists-of-the-last-century\/\">there<\/a> (a simple Google Scholar search) &#8212; will win a copy of my book <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wlu.ca\/press\/Catalog\/ivakhiv.shtml\"><em>Ecologies of the Moving Image<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The rule is that the names must be listed first in the comments section of that post.<\/p>\n<p>With one exception:\u00a0James Stanescu, who blogs at <a href=\"http:\/\/criticalanimal.blogspot.com\/\">Critical Animal<\/a>, has\u00a0already named\u00a0Walter Benjamin, Emile Durkheim, and Antonio Gramcsi, so they are out of the running &#8212; and he is in the lead at 3, since the prize was first announced on Facebook.
