{"id":6888,"date":"2013-09-11T12:54:20","date_gmt":"2013-09-11T17:54:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/aivakhiv\/?p=6888"},"modified":"2021-06-10T10:02:40","modified_gmt":"2021-06-10T15:02:40","slug":"emi-online-course","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/aivakhiv\/2013\/09\/11\/emi-online-course\/","title":{"rendered":"EMI online course"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cross-posting <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/e2mc\/2013\/09\/11\/ecologies-of-the-moving-image-online-course\/\">from e2mc:<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">I\u2019ve begun teaching a course on film and ecology and using my book <em>Ecologies of the Moving Image<\/em> as the main text.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">Since the topic is related to the theme of <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/e2mc\/\">this blog<\/a>, and since I\u2019ll be creating reading guides and posting links to film clips and related materials for my students, I thought I might as well share those publicly here.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><!--more-->The first materials from the course will go up later this week on this blog. They\u2019ll continue on a more-or-less weekly basis, at least until further notice.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">The book can be ordered online <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wlupress.wlu.ca\/Catalog\/ivakhiv.shtml\">from the publisher<\/a> for $36.75 Canadian, or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Ecologies-Moving-Image-Environmental-Humanities\/dp\/1554589053\">from Amazon<\/a> for $42 U.S. Alternatively, you can request that your local or institutional library order a copy from the publisher.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">The tentative course syllabus <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uvm.edu\/%7Eaivakhiv\/Ecocinema-Fall-2013.pdf\">is here<\/a>, but the scheduling will be a little off (later online than in the classroom version) and screenings may change from what\u2019s listed there. I will try to add links to relevant films or clips if these are available online. (Any help will be graciously accepted; use the \u201cComments\u201d field for any given week.) Otherwise, you can view things on Netflix, Amazon, or whatever other place you may get your videos\/DVDs.
