Let it simmer for a while, then when there&#8217;s enough of a discursive linkage made in the right direction (anti-Obama), let it roll&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3tvVPZTJUuw?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p>The dilemma for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.informaworld.com\/smpp\/content~content=a919923957&amp;db=all\">eco-egalitarian<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/aivakhiv.blog.uvm.edu\/2009\/10\/michael_moores_capitalism_plutonomy_canada.html\">resonance machine<\/a> is that, in the dyadic chamber of American politics, criticism of Obama&#8217;s handling of this issue, and of the Democrats&#8217; friendliness with corporations like BP, is bound to feed the Tea Party&#8217;s anti-governmental silliness. If the spill feeds an already existing populist anger against politicians &#8212; as it seems to be doing, and as I think it should (within a reasoned assessment of the history of corporate-government coziness) &#8212; it seems to me there should be a case being made for spinning that anger into a slogan like this:<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;THROW OUT THE CORPORATE BOOTLICKERS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>(but make sure the ones you replace them with are no worse than the ones you&#8217;re booting out)&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That leaves open the question of who those bootlickers are.
