With Donald Trump in power, this web site just might get a new lease on life — reincarnated as a place for examining\u00a0the rise of what has been called the “global alt-right,” with its network of connections between\u00a0Putinists<\/a> (like Alexander Dugin,\u00a0Konstantin Rykov<\/a>, and Igor Panarin), Trumpists (like Steve Bannon, Richard Spencer<\/a>, and Alex Jones, among others<\/a>), and those<\/a>\u00a0filling a similar niche around the world<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Trump campaign’s\u00a0connections with Russia<\/a>, of course, go well beyond such hazy connections as these. Ukrainian fears\u00a0of these connections<\/a> are legion<\/a>. As Natalia Humeniuk puts it<\/a>,<\/p>\n

“Trump\u2019s entire discourse\u2014not just not challenging the Russian occupation of Crimea but isolationism, conspiracy theories, little respect for the law and the right to bully\u2014it all looks exactly like what the Kremlin has been saying for years…\u201d<\/p>\n

To understand\u00a0the growth of the global alt-right, we might be having to scan not only the writings of alt-right thinkers themselves (like Dugin; for instance, see here<\/a>,\u00a0here<\/a>, and the video below,\u00a0where he gloats, “Trump’s Victory is Our Victory!”), but also those of critics like\u00a0riskologist (my term) Phil Torres<\/a>\u00a0(see first 2 links below) and rival conservative journalists and bloggers like Glenn Beck and Ed Adams (see below), reading them with a few grains of salt, perhaps, but still reading them.<\/p>\n

And then we might want to dig into some of the inspirations<\/a> of the movement, like Italian neo-Pagan fascist Julius Evola<\/a>, practitioners of chaos magick<\/a>, and others.<\/p>\n

That these people might\u00a0begin to work together, and even ascend into power in some places, is something I have predicted before<\/a>. But I’m as surprised as anyone that it would be this soon.<\/p>\n
