But occasionally I&#8217;ll share bits and pieces that come to me that I don&#8217;t find being shared elsewhere. Like this one.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Writer and curator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.journalinquirer.com\/news\/this-country-is-my-home-amid-war-manchester-native-stays-in-family-s-ukrainian-homeland\/article_3f384e4c-9a2e-11ec-8f14-0b374b3870c4.html\">Larissa Babij<\/a>&#8216;s blog <a href=\"https:\/\/akindofrefugee2022.substack.com\/\">A Kind of Refugee<\/a> has been providing a kind of refuge of poetic and inspired reflection on the reality of the Russian war on Ukraine. <a href=\"https:\/\/akindofrefugee2022.substack.com\/p\/a-kind-of-refugee-15042022?s=r\">Most recently she writes<\/a> about spring sunshine in Kyiv and how the &#8220;great energy to do something fully in the moment&#8221; provides the ground on which Ukrainians stand today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The choice, she writes, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>between subjugation to Russia or obedience to the West was never a particularly palatable one. and so Ukraine just plodded along ambiguously, neither here nor there, but \u201cnot dead yet.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>But &#8220;under increasing pressure and finding no safe path or protection&#8221; Ukrainians began to fight, not out of a rigorously theorized perspective &#8212; &#8220;Ukraine doesn&#8217;t have philosophy,&#8221; she provokes &#8212; but <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Ukrainians have the audacity to do things. without asking. without thinking too far ahead. without mapping out in their imaginations how it will work or endure in the long run. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For the next several weeks I will be on the road and likely not posting very much.
