{"id":39,"date":"2018-10-08T14:22:28","date_gmt":"2018-10-08T18:22:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/aeekraw\/?page_id=39"},"modified":"2018-12-08T01:47:02","modified_gmt":"2018-12-08T06:47:02","slug":"observed-plants","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blog.uvm.edu\/aeekraw\/observed-plants\/","title":{"rendered":"Observed Plants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The most common\u00a0<strong>woody plants\u00a0<\/strong>spotted in my area are<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sugar Maple &#8211; Seen in very high abundance around the sight<\/li>\n<li>Paper Birch &#8211; Present mostly on the outer stream edge where there has been a disturbance from building roads<\/li>\n<li>Boxelder &#8211; In small numbers<\/li>\n<li>Ash &#8211; In small numbers<\/li>\n<li>Buckthorn &#8211; In small numbers<\/li>\n<li>Eastern White Pine &#8211; A few older conifers found further up the hill from the stream<\/li>\n<li>Honey suckle &#8211; They thrive very well in this area and has out dominated many local plants<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Most of the trees are in younger with only about 15% being bigger, older trees. There is a decent amount of understory and young saplings growing. In addition, the ground is full of ferns and other small plants with a few honey suckles near the stream edge.
