Over the summer between my first and second year at the University of Vermont, I had the opportunity to participate in a month-long travel study course called Nepal: Changing Communities. This class took us to the Kingdom of Mustang in northern Nepal, close to the border with Tibet. Although we were only there for a month, the Kali Gandaki gorge and the people we met there changed the way that I thought about travel and my own place in the world, and fueled my desire to return to the country.
