City Nature Challenge and More!

The Intervale

The first place I visited, specifically for the City Nature Challenge, was the Intervale. I saw turtles and lots of different types of birds including Robins and Chickadees and others that I am unsure what species they were.

Rock Point

Next, I visited Rock Point where I saw lots of birds, squirrels, and a snake!

Either a Common Gartersnake or Eastern Ribbonsnake

Mount Philo

Lastly, I visited Mount Philo where I saw many animals but the ones that stood out the most were the Pileated Woodpecker, centipede ( I think), and red squirrel.

I did make some observations on iNaturalist, but to be totally honest in the moment when I’m outside and seeing the animals my first thought isn’t to log it into an app, so I don’t have the best experience using iNaturalist. I think the more I use it, the more I will like it, but I still have a lot to learn about the app.

It is so cool to look at the City Nature Challenge City List and see how many different parts of the world are participating! But its also really cool that Burlington is participating because when I zoom in, I see that there are actually not that many places doing it.
