UVM Blogs upgraded to WordPress 3.0.1

The UVM blogs service, blog.uvm.edu, has been upgraded to WordPress 3.0.1. This new version supports custom post types and easily created menus, the blog admin pages have been streamlined and now have a better help system, and many other things have been improved. For an overview, watch this:

In addition, WordPress 3.0 includes a great new theme that shows off its features, “Twenty Ten”.

  1. Hi Scott,

Is there a way to install third-party plugins with the new WordPress? My PI’s want to use WPhone, a plugin that would let them blog from their iPhones. Please advise.

    Thanks!

  2. In a multi-site WordPress installation, blog owners can’t install their own plugins directly because plugins are installed once to be made available for everyone’s blogs, but we are certainly taking requests. Improved mobile support is on the list already, though I’m undecided how exactly yet, and unfortunately, WPhone hasn’t been updated in 18 months. Have you tried the native WordPress iPhone app?
