November 15

Tutors,

Many of you have already let me know about your spring plans. I just want to say one more time that it would be incredibly useful for us in the Co-op if you could let me know if you will be either abroad in the spring, graduating in December, or planning to no longer be a tutor. If we have already talked about this, thank you.

Also, if you have Co-op hours and you plan on leaving early or returning late from Thanksgiving Break, let me know so we can make any necessary changes to the schedule.

Remember, tutoring ends on the same day that classes end: Wednesday, December 4th. The Learning Co-op will NOT pay you for any hours you spend tutoring during the exam period, so please plan accordingly with your students.

I have finally received information about future sexual harassment trainings. If you have not already attended, you should plan on going to one of the times listed below. Please, email me when you have attended the training, so we can record that as part of your file here in the Learning Co-op. This is paid time, so submit one hour into PeopleSoft on the date which you attended.

Tutors,

I hope this email finds everyone doing well.

As we approach the holiday season, be sure to pay attention to your schedule. Try to avoid scheduling sessions with students when you will be gone for the holidays or around break. If you have Co-op hours, and you know you might be leaving early or coming back late from Thanksgiving Break, let me know as soon as you can.

Tutoring ends on the last day of classes: Wednesday, December 4. Unless you have explicit permission from me, no hours will be approved for after that date. Please keep this in mind.

This weekend is a payroll deadline. Make sure that your hours are in PeopleSoft and that your visit information is in TutorTrac.

I have not heard anything about future sexual harassment training sessions. As soon as I do, I’ll let you all know. If you haven’t attended one yet, just keep an eye out for them, and attend one when you can.

Thanks,
Keith

Tutors,

The Student Employment Office has announced the new sexual harassment training procedure. Attending one of the sessions listed below is required for all student employees at UVM. All employees must attend a sexual harassment training session by the end of the semester, or positions will be terminated. The only exception to this would be having a certificate of completion for the now retired online sexual harassment training module. If you believe this applies to you, it would be best to check with me and confirm. You must have started working before 10/01/12.

I believe there will be more sessions scheduled later this semester, and I will pass those along as soon as I get them. Let me know if there are any questions on this. This is paid time, so be sure to submit an hour in PeopleSoft, and send me an email when you attend.

Tutor Requests: CS 121, CHEM 121, EC 160, POLS 150, PHIL 013
As usual, let me know if you can work with any of these courses.

Thanks,
Keith

Last post of the year!

Tutors,

Congratulations on getting through finals! It’s been a great year, and I want to thank you all for making that happen.

For all of you graduating, an even bigger congratulations to you. Thank you for all of your help during your time with us in the Co-op. I wish you the best of luck with everything that follows. Try to stay in touch; I’d be happy to serve as a reference in any capacity, and it is always good to know where Learning Co-op alumni end up!

For anyone who worked the last week of classes, make sure to get your time in. Your hours need to be in both PeopleSoft and in TutorTrac, or you won’t get paid. If you have any questions or issues, let me know.

For those of you not graduating, I hope to see you in August. I will email you all a couple weeks before classes start to announce our meeting. Feel free to contact me over the summer for whatever reason. Please note, though, that I will not be working during the month of July. I may not check my email regularly during that time. I will be here through June, and back on August 1st, however. I hope you all have an excellent summer! I will see in August!

Many thanks,
Keith

Tutors,

For everyone: Sunday at midnight is the usual deadline for payroll submissions. Get your things together. This is an important deadline, as it’s the last one which will provide a paycheck while you’re still around campus. Especially if you won’t be around Burlington, but generally for everyone, take special care in making sure to get all of your hours in with no issues. If you do any work next week, and you don’t have direct deposit, you’ll need to make arrangements to get your check.

For tutors returning in the fall: you should make sure to communicate to professors shortly after final grades are in about faculty recommendations for the fall. It’s a lot easier for instructors to talk about you immediately after the class finishes, as opposed to after a long summer. Professors forget things too, so make it easy on them and send that link to them in May instead of September.

Remember, we are all done tutoring after Wednesday, May 1st. Tutoring will continue as usual through Wednesday, but we will not do any more tutoring during finals. That includes weekends and reading days.

Good luck on those early finals!

Many thanks,
Keith
