To see these changes through seeking out the management of centennial woods to spearhead the changes to the path to reduce the erosion of the path in to the near by stream. Also I would need their permission to improve the riparian buffer zone along the stream. I chose these components of my phenology place to improve because they are the two main areas where I see the need for improvements. They have the potential to create a healthier ecosystem for everything people, wildlife, and vegetation.

possible changes to the landscape for the better

To improve upon my phenology place one step would be putting more trees in the surrounding area. This would reduce the run off into the stream from the surrounding urban area. With lowered nutrient loading and pollution levels it would create a better environment for aquatic wildlife, which will create a healthier surrounding ecosystem.

The path that runs through the centennial woods is on the edge of my phenology place. If the path where built in a better way I think erosion into to the near by creak could be greatly reduced when there is a heavy rainstorm. Building the path in a smarter way would be a change the landscape for the better.

Human History

Centennial woods was once mostly clear cut so the trees are new growth like the majority of the Vermont landscape. In my area of the forest I did not find any remnants of previous human activity. Just guessing from the history of Vermont it would be possible that this area was once either on a farm or on the outskirts of one. Maybe it was used as a water source for early European settlers or a Native American tribe. Right now my place is heavily influenced by human activity. Many people use the path to walk their dogs or go on their daily runs, and also the people who are in charge of trail maintenance and stewardship on centennial woods.

Observations From Previous Visit

Some changes that I have noticed since my last visit to my phenology place are most of the leaves have fallen from the surrounding trees. The water level in the stream that runs through the middle of my phenology place has risen since my last visit due to rain storms in the past past few days. I have not notice any signs of wildlife in this area of Centennial Woods. It may be because I have scared all the wildlife off by invading their habitat. I would assume that their are Benthic Macro Invertebrates living on the stream bed.
