This isn’t new, but it is fun. Try it out and see if it accurately identifies where you grew up. If it doesn’t, here are some of the more obvious possible reasons it may have got it wrong.
1. You grew up in more than one dialect region. This is true of many of us in our mobile society, myself included. Chances are you have bits from all of your influential places, but it probably takes more than a quick dialect quiz to sort it out.
2. You actively (or unconsciously) tried to change your dialect to one you perceived as better (whatever better means for you), and it worked! (It doesn’t always.)
