Research Requirement Information
As part of PSYC 001, students are required to take part in psychological research. Students are required to participate in one laboratory study (see details about these components below). Any required study that goes over 1 hour will yield both participation credit and bonus points. For every extra hour spent in the lab, fulfilling a requirement, you will receive 5 bonus points.
Failure to complete this requirement will result in a 50 point deduction from your final grade!
Laboratory Study Participation
The studies that fulfill this requirement will be posted on this blog and labeled clearly in the title. If you want a full list of the studies that fulfill the requirement, just click on the category on the upper right hand column that says “Fulfills Requirement”. Each study post includes details about the study, eligibility requirements, and how to sign up. Students may choose the study in which they would like to participate. Students should contact the researchers directly and do NOT need to e-mail psyc001@uvm.edu for permission to participate.
In addition, there will also be studies that students can participate in for up to 10 bonus points that will be added to their final grade at the end of the semester. These studies will be clearly marked and are different than the ones that fulfill the requirement.
