The Stoked Birder

A UVM blog

An Introduction

Hi there! My name’s Jasper Barnes. On this blog, I plan to document my various (mis)adventures as I attend the University of Vermont. Hopefully, I can provide an interesting perspective, because my hometown is Santa Cruz, California. I also want to use my blog as a place to write about my various expeditions as a birdwatcher. I’ve even attached some photos I’ve taken of Californian species. For now, there isn’t a whole lot here, but have a good one anyway!

It's kinda blurry but I still like this picture.

A California Scrub-jay, Aphelocoma californica. One of my favorite local birds.

They're the clowns of the forest, especially with their laughing calls!

Acorn Woodpeckers (Melanerpes formicivorus) like this one are near my home.
