We’re going to spend our first five days at the Macal River Camp at Chaa Creek, 20 minutes outside San Ignacio. Each of the three “local” faculty will spend a half day introducing the students to their topics. Additional activities will include:
- a canoe trip up the Macal River to the Belize Botanic Gardens;
- guided tours of the Blue Morpho Butterfly Farm and Natural History Museum;
- a presentation on Chaa Creek’s efforts to promote sustainable tourism in Belize; and
- daily guided bird walks (optional)
