Debate: $787 Billion, Stimulus or Sedative?

On October 5, 2009, the Janus Forum hosted a discussion on the benefits and drawbacks of the $787 billion federal stimulus package. This debate featured Jeffrey Miron and Justin Wolfers. Jeffrey Miron is the Director of Economic Studies at the Cato Institute and the Director of Undergraduate Studies in Economics at Harvard University. Miron conducts frequent research on libertarian economics, including “The Case Against the Fiscal Stimulus.” Justin Wolfers is a Professor of Economics and Public Policy at the University of Michigan. In addition to that role, Wolfers is a research associate with the National Bureau for Economic Research, where he studies macroeconomics, law and economics, and the political economy.
