Smart TVs

Game consoles and media streaming devices are made to be compatible with consumer network configurations such as your standard home wireless router. These devices do not support WPA2 Enterprise, which is the network type UVM wireless uses. Therefore, they are unable to connect wirelessly on campus. However, game consoles and media devices are able to connect via an Ethernet cable to the data port located in your reshall room. All you need to do is submit a Network Registration Request Form at www.uvm.edu/techteam/playonline.

Below are instructions for finding your Smart TV’s MAC address.

1. If your device has an internet browser, plug in the Ethernet cable and open your browser to register your device.  You will need to go to netreg.uvm.edu through the internet browser on the TV and follow the instructions listed on that screen.

2. If your device does not have an internet browser, then you will need to search for a support page to find the MAC address for the make and model of your TV.  The MAC address may have letters and/or numbers and will be in the format 00:00:00:00:00:00

Now that you’ve located your Wired MAC address, please include it in your Network Registration Request at www.uvm.edu/techteam/playonline.
