Changing your Primary Email Address

The University of Vermont has recently moved its email and calendaring services to Microsoft Exchange. Exchange will allow you select a “Primary email address”. The address you select will be the address that appears on all emails you send through Exchange.

The default primary email address is set to first.last@uvm.edu format. However, you may wish to change this if you prefer your netid@uvm.edu address, or if you use a listserv that requires your netid@uvm.edu address to post messages.

  1. To change your “Primary email address”, visit account.uvm.edu/email-settings¬†you may be asked to login with your NetID and password.
  2. This email-settings page allows you to configure¬†various mail and calendar settings, in this example we’re focussing on the “Preferred email address“. If you’d like to change your address, use the drop-down menu to select the address you wish to use when sending mail.selectnewaddress

That’s it, you’ve successfully updated your primary email address. All mail you send from an Exchange connected client will send as this primary email address.
