Duo using a Landline: Login to UVM Services

Login to UVM Services with a Duo enabled Landline

NOTE: Duo Security supports the use of Landline phones by generating an automated phone call where you will be asked to press a number to approve the authentication attempt. This method results in a small cost per use and is thus not recommended as a primary method for accessing Duo secured web services. That being said, enrolling your landline is a good idea as a backup method for accessing you account.

  1. If you have not already enrolled your Landline for use with Duo Security, see this guide first.
  2. Open a web browser and navigate to a UVM web services which is protected with Duo multi factor authentication. In this example, we’ll be logging into PeopleSoft.
  3. Enter your UVM NetID and password as you normally would when accessing other UVM web services.
  4. Upon entering your credentials successfully, you will be prompted with a “Multi-Factor Duo Security Required” screen. Clicking the “Call” button under my “Office Phone” will initiate an automated call to my Landline office phone. (NOTE: Your landline may not appear with the label of “Office Phone”)
  5. The specified Landline number will receive an automated phone call. Answering the call will inform you that a request was made to login to your account. To approve the login request, press any key on your phones number pad.

That’s it, you’ve successfully logged into a Duo protected site using your Landline!
