POSITION FILLED – PAID Internship Opportunity with The American Chestnut Foundation

Paid Internship: Summer 2018
The American Chestnut Foundation (TACF) is working to breed blight-resistant American chestnuts and restore this important species to our forests. You can help!

Internship duties will include:
•Assist with all aspects of TACF’s New England regional science programs.
•Plant and maintain American chestnuts in field and greenhouse settings.
•Grow and maintain fungal cultures of chestnut blight.
•Conduct inoculation, breeding selection, and pollination activities.
•Enter data and digitized records in TACF’s online database.

Requirements:
•Some training in forestry, ecology, horticulture, biology, or related fields.
•Good written and oral communication skills, strong time-management skills.
•Ability to work well independently and in group settings.
•Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel; good attention to detail.
•Travel throughout New England will be required. Candidate MUST have own vehicle and current driver’s license.
•Candidate must be willing to work with a flexible schedule.

This position pays $12.50/hour for approximately 12 weeks of work. The internship is based at TACF’s New England office in South Burlington, VT.
