Forestry Webinar Series Internship Opportunity

The Vermont Urban and Community Forestry Program, a partnership between UVM Extension and Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation is seeking an intern to assist in the coordination and delivery of the Managing Vermont’s Changing Forest Webinar Series.

Timeline: Fall Semester and Spring Semester
Location: virtual; no travel required
Commitment: 5 hours/week, flexible based on intern availability and workload
Compensation: $10/hour that will come in the form of a stipend; UVM credit hours available.

Internship Description
The VT Urban and Community Forestry Program seeks an intern to assist program staff in coordination and delivery of our monthly webinar series. This webinar series for natural resource professionals explores a range of topics and highlight current research from throughout New England. In addition to working with Program staff, this intern will receive on-campus support from the faculty of UVM’s Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources. Specific intern duties will include:
• Working with partners to develop the series schedule and topics;
• Communicating and coordinating with potential presenters;
• Promoting of the series, and communicating with attendees
• Coordinating continuing education credits for webinars
• Facilitating live webinars, if desired
• Archiving past webinars online

This is a multifaceted internship and our ideal candidate will be eager to gain experience in both supporting components of program development and delivery. Additional ideal qualifications include:
• A driven and responsible individual who is eager and able to take on a diverse set of tasks and complete them independently
• Attention to detail; efficient and effective organization skills
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written
• A self-directed individual who is willing to ask questions and wants to be successful in even the smallest task
• A demonstrated passion for natural resources, stewardship, and some familiarity with the field of forestry; or education.
• Willingness to use a personal computer and work remotely (not at an office)
• Familiarity with GoToWebinar or GoToMeeting is ideal, but not required.
