Know anyone who might want to work for TNC?

The TNC WV chapter is part of several cutting-edge ecosystem restoration partnerships, including the Central Appalachian Spruce Restoration Initiative (CASRI), the Potomac Highlands Cooperative Weed and Pest Management Area (PHCWPMA), and the Appalachian Ecosystem Restoration Initiative (AERI, the current Joint Chiefs project that is centered on the Monongahela). The MNF works closely with TNC on a daily basis, to the point that their field crews are embedded with us and are producing a significant share of our NNIS and habitat enhancement accomplishments.

The West Virginia Chapter of The Nature Conservancy is currently searching for a Director of Conservation Programs. Keith Fisher has taken a job with the Pennsylvania Chapter and will be moving on to work with Pennsylvania TNC later this week.

Though a small chapter West Virginia is a great state to be working in conservation. We have some of the highest concentrations of biodiversity and some of the most intact and resilient forest and freshwater landscapes in the East. WV sits at the heart of the Central Appalachians Whole System, and we have some deep partnerships and big opportunities to work on landscape-scale restoration and protection projects. WV is also an interesting state as it could certainly be a big contributor to natural climate solutions and forest carbon work, yet is an energy producing state with the politics and carbon focused issues that come along with that. I hope we can attract a strong candidate who can come help us get our work on the ground and push forward projects at a meaningful scale.

If you have any thoughts about potential candidates who may be a good fit and qualified for this position I would encourage you to forward the link below on to them and let them know the job is open. If there is anyone in particular you think I should talk with I would like to know that, too.
