INTERNSHIP: Paid Communication Internship with the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy

Communication Internship Opportunity

The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization that acts as a catalyst to advance energy efficiency policies, programs, technologies, investments, and behaviors. ACEEE seeks an intern for its communications department.
This internship begins Summer 2013 with the possibility of extending into the fall semester and it is based in Washington, D.C. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. We do not accept calls about our internships.

Communications Intern – Paid

Position Description:

ACEEE seeks a part-time intern to assist with communications for the organization. The internship will be an excellent opportunity for those interested in communications at a nonprofit organization with a focus on energy and environmental issues. The accepted candidate will receive some training on public relations web-based tools as necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a database of news articles;
  • Press-based research as needed;
  • Create media lists;
  • Assist Communications Associate with publication and outreach duties;
  • Research social media tools; and
  • Log data in ACEEE contact database.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Possess or are working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field;
  • Interest in energy and environmental issues strongly preferred;
  • Experience with PR tools such as Constant Contact and Vocus preferred;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required; and
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple assignments (as needed), work efficiently, and meet deadlines.

Timing: Local applicants preferred as this internship will begin in the summer 2013 with the possibility of extending into the fall semester. The internship will require a time commitment of 20 hours/week.
