JOB: Community Farmer at Sandy Springs Friends School, MD

Sandy Spring Friends School is seeking an immediate hire for the Community Farmer position. The person chosen for this position will manage the Community Farm Program with vision and expertise.

Responsibilities will include: administrate the record keeping and planning of the farm, execute all tasks related to production and maintenance of the crops and infrastructure, organization of volunteers, working closely with the Gardening Committee to develop strategic short and long term goals, plan each season with a long term vision including improvements and growth, create connections with area growers and charitable organizations in support of the vision of the Gardening Committee, and will support faculty with development and implementation of curriculum activities both on the farm and in the classroom.

Qualifications: Energetic, outgoing personality with at least 2 years of sustainable vegetable farming experience, with preference for at least one year of farm-management or farm-education experience. Experience with MS Office applications; use and experience with on-line/web technology a plus.

Time Requirements: This is a full-time position. Hours vary based on the season, farm, and classroom demands. Some weekends required.
