PO-00198330, 2/11/2013 – 12/22/2013

We are currently seeking five SCA Interns to work as a team in completing a variety of public accessible trail projects throughout the 7.2 million acre Connecticut River Watershed, spanning four New England states (CT, MA, NH and VT) from the Long Island Sound to the Canadian border. Interns will complete a variety of hands-on trail development, construction and improvement projects (70%) and will be based (housed) in Hadley, MA. Interns will also be engaged in delivering environmental education and outreach programs as part of the FWS’s urban initiative, designed to educate youth and communities about the FWS and the natural resources in the CT River watershed. Specifically, the interns will assist FWS in staffing the Watershed on Wheels (WoW) Express, a mobile exhibit that travels the length of the Conte Refuge visiting schools, fairs and festivals. As time allows, interns will also provide assistance to the FWS fisheries, invasive plant control, and other resource management divisions.

Benefits: travel; housing; living allowance; loan deferment; AmeriCorps award upon successful completion of service.
