Education Park Ranger job at Muir Woods National Monument

We are seeking candidates for a non-competitive Pathways student hire or
recent graduate for the GS-5/7/9 position of Education Park Ranger at Muir
Woods National Monument. We are seeking a candidate with a commitment to
working with diverse student populations in an urban setting. We hope to
recruit candidates who are bi-lingual in Spanish, Cantonese, or Mandarian.
The position will be open as of February 1st. It will be a permanent
postition, subject to furlough.

The Education Coordinator at Muir Woods National Monument is an integral
team member of the park’s Education Team, as well as contributor to the
overall site operations at Muir Woods. The education coordinator develops,
presents, manages, and evaluates curriculum-based education programs on a
variety of topics, including biodiversity, redwood ecology, climate change,
watersheds, San Francisco Bay Area history. The coordinator at times may
train, coach, and lead volunteers, seasonals, and NPS staff in the
education programs. The education coordinator works closely with schools
and bus companies to schedule programs and transportation.

The person in this position will be asked to

work effectively with diverse groups and individuals on collaborative
projects and educational programming partnerships
develop and deliver curriculum-based education programs in the field
or in the classroom according to best practices and ability to engage
culturally diverse audiences
communicate in writing, including write age-appropriate curricula
for different styles of learners in grades K-12
develop and deliver intrepretive programs based on relevant and
engaging  topics
