Scott Wiltshire: Beginner Goth
Scott Wiltshire is 20 years old and lives with his parents outside Des Moines Iowa. Finding his suburban life dull and uninspiring coupled with his parents still giving him a curfew, Scott has turned to a gothic style of dress and makeup to express his frustrations with what he sees as the monstrous injustices in his life. Scott is currently unemployed, having been fired from the local Pizza Hut for “lackluster morale.” He spends his days surfing the web, practicing and recording for his one-man band Silent Spring, and brooding about “the state of things.” Each morning after waking he applies lipstick, eyeliner, eye shadow, foundation, and a healthy amount of hairspray to himself, to better portray his angst and malcontent. He is new at this, so it does not always appear professionally done, but the more Siouxsie and The Banshees videos he watches, the closer he gets.
Scott spends a few hours each day, after a hearty breakfast, chain-smoking outside of his parent’s house, hoping to broadcast his gloom to the sunny world outside. Scott is, as his mother would say, “without direction,” his despondence at all he sees will not allow him the confidence to make life goals. However, he is looking for a job, as his mom refuses to buy his eyeliner.
