Okay, so I know that I’m not fooling anyone – that’s a sunset, and this is an entry about new beginnings. We’ll just use it as a metaphor for the end of summer: a summer that I will not soon forget. Once finals were over, my dad took me on a much-needed and very relaxing trip to Hawaii. It was absolutely beautiful down there, and well-worth the jet-lag!
After I got home, I had about 11 days to pack, and move up North! This summer, I was working for the University managing Visit Events on-campus this past summer, and it was a great job! I got to work with all of my tour guide friends and admissions colleagues – a great team to be with!
Another new beginning – I moved into my apartment off-campus! At UVM we have to live on-campus for our first 2 years as a student, something that I ended up really appreciating. Through my res-hall experience, I made a great group of friends, 3 of which made the bold move to live in a confined space with yours truly!
My first couple of months off-campus have been awesome: we’ve been cooking together (using only the freshest, local foods), we have an awesome porch for reading and late-night chats… there’s really nothing to complain about (knock on wood!).
With classes having just-started, I’m surprised at my lack of stress. Sure, there was a time (2 days ago), where I was freaking out about getting my books, figuring out my schedule and doing that thing I forgot existed… homework? But now, with our first 3 day weekend (although, for me it’s a 4 day weekend – no class on Fridays!), it’s time to relax, focus and get ready to have a fantastic semester!
Tonight I’m going to the Champlain Valley Fair with my friends from downstairs (there are only 2 apartments in our house… luckily, we like our neighbors!) I’ve never been, but have heard that it’s a blast! Last-night, Justin Beiber performed there… I’m sure you couldn’t get within 5 miles without getting the Beiber Fever!
Great Friends – Great Apartment – GREAT Food – Great Activities – Mediocre Entertainment Acts (sorry Beiber, you’re just not my fave) – and that’s all in-addition to classes… we’ve got it made.
Until next time!
