I know it’s almost Winter, because I’ve gotten my first cold of the year… make that first three. This last one was a doozey, I was in bed Monday THROUGH Thursday; missing every class/meeting/appointment in my calendar. But that’s what happens when you get the flu! Luckily, the University was prepared for my illness: last week UVM reopened the “Flu and Fever Clinic” in the basement of Ira Allen Chapel, a concept they’ve supposedly brought back from the early 1900’s.
This clinic is meant to serve as an additional resource to students feeling ill, in an attempt to keep the student health center running smoothly and uncluttered. I was really impressed, in feeling like crap and out with a care package (filled with soup, fruit, crackers, thermometer and more!) in less than an hour!
As great as it was to be stuck in bed for 4 days, it really stunk having to miss all of my classes, but so far my teachers have been really understanding about my absences. I got to keep all of my extra-curriculars running from the comfort of my bed via email; we’ve been selling tickets for 2012 Class Council’s Moonlight Movie Madness like crazy! We’ve closed down Essex Cinemas for the night of the 20th and will be showing 8 movies, 3 times during the night!
Now that I’m better, I’ve re-focused and ready to power through my intense work load so I can close this semester the right way! That doesn’t mean I cant have fun though; this weekend I’ll be going to the Roller Derby in Essex Junction (right down the road, next to St. Michaels College)!
But ultimately, I’m just wasting time getting psyched for some deep-fried Turkey!
Stay Healthy, world!
